What is Cognitive Behavorial Therapy?

In cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), an individual learns ways of changing negative patterns of thinking and behaving and replacing these with more productive thoughts and actions. CBT can be effective approach for individuals with ADHD. But for those with more severe ADHD symptoms, it is often helpful to first stabilize symptoms and then begin CBT.

What Does Titration Mean?

If you or your child are beginning a trial of stimulant medication, the doctor will likely start with an initial low dose of stimulant and carefully adjust the dose upwards to adequate levels. This process is called titration.

ADHD Genes Found

Researchers have identified hundreds of gene variations that occur more frequently in children with ADHD than in children without ADHD. Many of those genes were already known to be important for learning, behavior, brain function and neurodevelopment, but had not been previously associated with ADHD.
