“Maybe the reason I can't hold on to jobs is that I have a rotten work ethic and it has nothing to do with ADD at all?”

The above question comes from one of our forum members with untreated ADHD
I know it is so easy to get stuck in this funk. Dealing with ADD symptoms at work can certainly create problems. And when you have repeated frustrations and failures at work, it can be hard to want to get back up and face more frustrations. It becomes a vicious cycle -– it may be that things felt more hopeful early on, so you were able to move forward and try things, then you faced challenges that became overwhelming, you experienced failures…you try again, but face these same obstacles. When people have untreated ADHD and continue to bump into these same problems again and again and again, it makes it harder to want to try again. Things just feel so disappointing. Plus, the ADHD itself can make it hard to start tasks, especially if they are boring or feel overwhelming. People sometimes just become paralyzed, unable to move forward at all.
Please know that things can get better with help and support. If you are not already, it really is important to connect with a healthcare professional for treatment. It is also helpful to put some ADHD focused strategies in place:
