ADHD to be Discussed on the Dr. Phil Show This Week
Be sure to tune in or set your recorder for this Thursday, July 9. Check your local listings for time. Below is more information about the show’s focus.
From the Dr. Phil Website:
Do you and your spouse fight about the same things over and over? Dr. Phil's guests have threatened divorce and want to know if there's a solution for their constant battles. Deanna and her husband, Jason, argue often and engage in big blowouts that they say are destroying their marriage. They have a 7-year-old son who was recently diagnosed with ADHD, and Deanna wonders if her husband may also suffer from this disorder. Is this couple caught in a never-ending downward spiral, and is ADHD contributing to the problem?
Dr. Ned Hallowell, psychiatrist, best-selling author and expert in the field of ADHD, weighs in. After watching a video of Jason participating in a specific task, what are the therapist's thoughts about Jason's behavior?
Then, meet Kevin who has been diagnosed with ADHD. His wife, Roseshel, says their marriage is like a roller-coaster ride, and he's impossible to deal with. Can this couple save their union, or is the damage already done? If you wonder whether your spouse may suffer from ADHD, tune in to find out the signs to watch out for and what you can do to bring peace to your home.

Great to hear Dr. Phil bringing on Dr. Ned Hallowell and ADHD couples to address ADHD challenges in relationships. After much hard work, and heart work, my husband and I turned a huge corner this past 4th of July weekend. The shift was so huge, we made July 4th our new anniversary date.
Relationships are tough enough without ADHD. When both partners have it, like Terry and I, the challenges multiply.
Thanks Keith for giving a heads up about this broadcast!
Sincerely,
Cathy

Cathy … I can completely understand. My 17 yr old daughter and I are both being treated for ADHD and my husband shows all the signs of it, though his doctor is more concerned with his depression at this time. Our home is often like a war zone.
Cathy, congrats on your new anniversary! For those of you who don’t know, Cathy has a wonderful site:

Be sure to check it out.
Suzz, my thoughts are with you and your family. Living in a war zone with conflict and hurt feelings is no fun…and certainly can worsen symptoms of ADHD, not to mention your husband’s depression. Sending good thoughts your way. Hope things begin to get better soon.
Dear, dear Suzz,
I am so sorry to hear what you’re going through. And, I know there are many, many sweet souls like you hurting. I hope you’ll either catch Dr. Phil’s show when it airs or can record it. My VA, has seen the show tells me it’s a must see. Also, I’ll be sharing my personal challenge in an ADHD marriage on my blog. You’ll hear of the struggles, challenges and tools we’ve used to create our new path. And, my heart goes out to all of us in ADD – ADHD marriages. They can be a nightmare and have the potential to be a dream. My parents, ADD and ADHD have the dream. They have been and continue to be my role models for family and relationships.
Warmest,
Cathy
Thanks for your kudos Keath. What better date to celebrate an ADHD marriage!
