Name a famous person who has succeeded with ADD. Paul Orfalea is one.
Paul Orfalea performed terribly in school. He flunked second grade and received poor grades in high school and college. Yet he went on to create a $2.4 billion empire. That’s not too shabby!
“My learning disability gave me certain advantages, because I was able to live in the moment and capitalize on the opportunities I spotted,” says Orfalea. “With ADD, you’re curious. You’re eyes believe what they see. Your ears believe what others say. I learned to trust my eyes.”
Staying in one place was difficult. “Because I have a tendency to wander, I never spent too much time in my office,” says Orfalea. “My job was going from store to store, noticing what people were doing right. If I had stayed in my office all the time, I would not have discovered all those wonderful ideas to help expand the business.”
Orfalea surrounds himself with skilled people who help organize and take care of the little details.
