Permission to PROCEED

David Giwerc is a longtime advocate for ADHD awareness, education and understanding. He is a master certified coach and founder and president of the ADD Coach Academy, the first, largest and only comprehensive ADHD coach-training program fully accredited by the International Coach Federation. Giwerc is also author of Permission to PROCEED: The Keys to Creating a Life of Passion, Purpose and Possibility for Adults with ADHD (2011).

Permission to PROCEED is a wonderful read for adults with ADHD, for the loved ones supporting them and the professionals who provide ADHD coaching. Giwerc’s approach is compassionate, informative, practical and solution-focused.

Diagnosed with ADHD at age 38, Giwerc shares personal experiences and explains that, for him, naming the disorder was not enough. On his own journey with ADHD he sought to understand what ADHD actually meant and how and where it showed up in his life.

This effort to understand and gain insight into ADHD is what he shares in Permission to PROCEED. Throughout each chapter Giwerc helps readers discover which situations may trigger ADHD impairments and offers practical strategies to help them take control and better manage symptoms. His approach is positive, optimistic and hopeful.

So often there is misunderstanding about ADHD. Giwerc explains how the invisible, paradoxical challenges of ADHD contribute to these misperceptions. He understands the cycle of negative thoughts and pessimism that a person can easily find himself (or herself) trapped in. He offers hope and help in breaking this pattern and moving forward.
